The Bushman Experience
Join us and explore the unique diversity and pristine beauty of the Northern Boreal Forest on an Adventure Eco-Tour with Bushman Inc. At over five million square kilometers (nearly half of Canada) the Boreal Forest is the largest land-based ecosystem in North America. We are located in the Boreal Lakeland surrounding Chip Lake approximately 130 km west of Edmonton in north central Alberta. This is a transition area where ranching meets the boreal forest thus we encounter more diverse species of plants and wildlife in our guiding area.
You will travel by canoe and on foot with our experienced and knowledgeable guides exploring this rich Lakeland. The numerous islands and shoals are home to a large variety of nesting birds and waterfowl, and provide critical habitat for established colonies of great blue herons and white pelicans as well as nesting bald eagles. During our early morning and evening paddles moose and deer are often encountered in the shallows and black bears frequent the islands and shoreline uplands.
During the spring and summer the Boreal Forest explodes with life. The air hums with the sound of insects attracting millions of migrating birds every year to this northern clime. For the intrepid birdwatcher this is the chance to add to your life-list. Explore deep into the forest with our guides, and observe firsthand the numerous species of migrating and nesting birds. Your chance to see larger wildlife species such as deer, moose, bear, elk and wolves will increase with the more time you spend in the woods.
Often overlooked, the rich and diverse ecology that makes up the Boreal Forest is as important to the health of our earth as the tropical rainforest.
Come and explore with us one of the world’s great natural ecosystems.
